Intercessors are urged to come alongside a pastor and president of the Chinese House Church Alliance who recently issued an open letter to the international community, revealing sufferings and persecutions he has endured from authorities.

Since his conversion to Christianity in 1986 Pastor Zhang Mingxuan has been arrested, beaten and incarcerated 12 times, Assist News Service (ANS) reported. Most recently, Public Security Bureau (PSB) and state officials forced Mingxuan to close the orphanage he had been running with his two sons.

Mingxuann and the orphans have continued to look for places of residence, but have been refused several times by landlords who have been threatened by officials not to lease to the pastor. Currently, Zhang has been separated from his two sons, who were also forced to move by PSB officials, ANS reported.

The persecution prompted Mingxuan to issue an open letter, which details the many hardships and injustices he has had to endure throughout the years, according to China Aid Association. The pastor also cited numerous accounts of Chinese Christians imprisoned for preaching Jesus Christ, ANS reported.

ChinaIn his letter, Mingxuan said he had appealed to President Hu Jintao to rectify the wrongs being done by corrupt government officials. However, Mingxuan has received no response.

Mingxuan strongly appealed for the international community “to pray for China and for the success of (the) 2008 Olympics in China and for the real freedom of religion in China,” he wrote. “We pray to God that those brothers and sisters imprisoned for preaching Jesus Christ will be released soon and that God will make leaders in the Chinese government to treat the believers in a correct way and that God will make China a country full of love, justice, freedom and prosperity.”

China is ranked No. 10 in the 2008 Open Doors “World Watch List” of nations that persecute Christians the worst.

Pray for:

  • Pastor Zhang Mingxuan, his family and the children at his orphanage. Pray that they will find some permanent accommodation and that Mingxuan will be able to meet again with other Christians.
  • Cry out to God for justice so that government officials will to stop the mistreatment of Christians. Pray that God will break the stronghold of persecution and corruption in China.
  • A supernatural Shield of Protection around persecuted Christians as they face opposition, arrest, detention and violence from government security forces.
  • The international community to see the reality of life in China during the summer Olympics in Beijing. Pray that the world would not be silent on the issue of human rights and that the Church would rise up to speak for persecuted Christians.
  • The international community to demand  justice, freedom of religion and protection for all of China’s citizens.
