I love this point of view by Rick Joyner (I’ll paste it below in a moment). It’s strangely interesting that there is a large segment of the church that is rising up against various moves of God (Like Todd Bentley in Lakeland, Toronto, etc.) that include angelic encounters, manifestations, etc. It’s sad, really. I agree with Rick that a key reason so many are resistant to such things is that they simply haven’t had that experience themselves. It can be offensive to people who either struggle with having a personal encounter with God, or those who have seen others manifesting in a way that is intellectually or logically bothersome.
The reality is that God is real, and should be felt. Encounters in the supernatural dimension are key for believers as we live and walk in that realm, in the spirit. This is what makes praying in tongues, for example, so incredibly powerful. It defies logic and takes us into the spirit. We are all to prophesy, which requires supernatural revelation. Dreams and visions are for all believers. Angels are real and they have much to do with us.
As we are intimately involved with Jesus, we will encounter his dimension. Angels, demons, dreams, visions, trips to the third heaven, trances, etc. will be in the mix. It’s all very biblical, yet so many are tempted to shut down that part of their lives because of fear or because they equate the supernatural realm with the demonic realm… meaning, if New Agers see angels, then we as Christians should not. It’s where God exists! We can’t, can’t, can’t shut down God’s dimension! We must live there and walk there every day. We trust Jesus to give us appropriate revelation as we stay deeply in the Word, in prayer and in pursuit of Him. That focus simply results in seeing and living in the spirit. We become Holy Spirit driven people.
Here’s the quote by Rick Joyner:
What is the significance of all the talk of angels?
Answer:
It should be a bit of a concern that so many seem to have a problem with this. The Bible talks far more about angels than anyone. The interaction of angels with people is found throughout the Scriptures. They are ministering spirits who minister to those who are the heirs of salvation, and they are messengers who are constantly bringing messages from God to His people. Seeing angels and receiving messages from them is actually far more normal for God’s people in Scripture than not seeing them and not receiving messages from them. The reason some may be having a problem with this is because they may not have seen them or received messages from them, but biblically, this lack of experience should be more of a concern than having them.
This is significant because the activity of angels seems to be increasing, which does seem to be a precursor to a major or important move of God, of which I think we certainly are in the first stages.
