I saw that my pal Chris Ferguson posted on this, and I just had to follow up.  See Chris’ post here.

How can this be?  When there is a stirring around the world for the night and day, 24/7 church to emerge, the affirmation of a lesser commitment simply cannot slip by unaddressed.

The Church, in many ways, has finally surrended to the culture’s demand on people’s lives.  Weekly services started to disappear off of the calendar.  When it was normal a generation ago to be in the church every timne the doors were open, now it’s nearly impossible to find a Sunday evening service, much less a Wednesday service to attend.

The call must not be for less commitment, but exponentionally more!  It’s time the church isn’t driven by the culture, but we must call for shock waves from heaven and see our culture conform to the blueprints of scripture!

As we see the 24/7 church develop it will be normal to be in church most every day of the week.  In order for the city church to accomplish its missions, people must be in position, full of the Holy Spirit, on their face in the furnace of prayer and stricken with boldness and power.

Such a call demands much.  We see in the first church in Acts 2 a precedent was established– everybody was in the house of prayer every day AND they were involved in prayer and teaching sessions in homes– continually!

As we boldly call the people into the house of prayer– not to expect anything from it, but rather to bring an offering and to serve– we will see revival truly take root and entire regions will be transformed.

Our call is to equip the saints to work, to minister.  To call them to a 30 minute church service and then watch them drive away before their coffee even got cold is simply bizarre.  I often say that a 2–hour service per week Revival Nation 20 Elementsdoesn’t even come close to giving enough time to accomplish the severe missions that are before us.  It will take many times that in order for people to pray sufficiently, receive instruction, move out in corporate ministry and develop a deep community around that mission.

But, 30 minutes?  No, no, no!  Maybe a reclarification of the purpose of the church is what we need.  How in the world can you both pray and respond to God in 5 minutes?  It’s time we’re on our face for hours a day with other fire-breathers in our cities!
